This music was written using the outline of a photo of Porthmeor beach in St. Ives Cornwall. The music is an original tune but draws inspiration from Philippians: 4 v5, “Let your gentleness be evident to all, the Lord is near”
The flowing accompaniment parts, represent the soft breaking of the ocean on the beach whilst the sustained notes represent, the continuous stretch of sand that is shown in the picture. The shape of the melody was created by sketching the outline of the rooftops of houses that overlook the beautiful Porthmeor beach.
The music is designed to be an “aid to Worship” and its thin score allows band and listener to take time out and be transported to their own place of quietness.
